A Lawn Tennis section of Alnwick Cricket Club was formed in 1884 in the north section of the club ground adjacent to the recreation ground.
A tennis club pavilion was opened in 1908 with the club later taking the name of Alnwick Hotspur Tennis Club.
Before 1900 other courts were built in the town beside Dovecote Terrace, not far from the pre WW2 Urban Council courts.
The Alnwick Tennis Club later to moved to its current location on Prudhoe Street.
