Angel Inn

The earliest records relating to the Angel inn date from 1727.

Cockfights were advertised in the 18th century, with prizes as high as £100, but by 1815 the cockpit was no longer used.

In 1827 this was one of four Coaching Inns in Alnwick.  The “Wonder” was the coach that stopped at the Angel Inn, Fenkle Street, on its journey between Morpeth and Edinburgh.
