St. Michael's Church, Alnwick c1860The Church was founded in 1147 AD as a chapel to Lesbury thence Alnwick Abbey and was built over a Saxon predecessor. There have been twenty thousand burials in the churchyard since 1646, the earliest records found so far.Over 600 hundred gravestones are still evident, both in the church and in the graveyard.
