Queen’s Hotel

Numbers 36 and 38 Green Batt date from the early to mid 19th century, and now form part of Alnwick Youth Hostel. In the middle of the 19th century they appeared in trade directories as the Queen’s Hotel. This was described in the Ordnance Survey Name Books at the time as “an ordinary public house with an ambitious name“.

By 1886 the building was occupied by the police superintendent.
