Shop fronts form an important part of the overall “sense of place” of a town. Most shop fronts in Alnwick can trace their history back over 100 years. Northumberland County Council, together with the Alnwick Civic Society, have created a Shopfront Design Guideline which helps owers use best practice in maintaining their store front.
